Exhibition Our Pictures 16.11.2007–9.2.2009

Suomi Mutual is a founding member of the Association of Finnish Fine Arts Foundations (STSY). Association of Finnish Fine Arts Foundations was established on 22 November 2006.

The association's first joint exhibition Our Pictures – National Art from the Collections of Finnish Foundations and Corporations opened at the Amos Anderson Art Museum in Helsinki on 16 November 2007.

The exhibition is part of a nationwide anniversary programme celebrating 90 years of Finnish independence. Works featured in the exhibition illustrate how a Finnish identity was constructed through fine arts at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Over the decades, Suomi Mutual has acquired major works by Finnish artists. Its collection includes national treasures such as works by Pekka Halonen from various phases of his career. Commissioned from the artist Wäinö Aaltonen in the 1930s, the sculpture Marjatta was to become the symbol of Suomi Mutual for decades. The allegorical bronzed plaster sculptures – Faith (1896) and Trust (1897) – by Emil Wikström were the first sculptures in Finnish art history to be commissioned specifically for corporate interiors.
